David M. Dutton, DVM DACVS Dr. Dutton is board certified in surgery. His veterinary career began with undergraduate studies in animal science at New Mexico State University. He then completed veterinary medical school at Colorado State University and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. He furthered his education by completing a large animal internship at The University of Georgia. Dr. Dutton then went on to complete a 3 year surgical residency at Texas A&M University with research focused on tarsal valgus, incomplete ossification of tarsal bones, and suprascapular nerve injury. Dr. Dutton continued on staff at Texas A&M University as a large animal lecturer. Dr. Dutton became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2000, and has owned and practiced at Hill Country Equine for the past 8 years.
Justin Harper, DVM, MS
Dr. Harper joins Hill Country Equine after completing a three year surgical and lameness residency program at Auburn University. Prior to arriving at Auburn University, Dr. Harper was an intern at Littleton Large Animal Hospital in Littleton, Colorado. Dr. Harper is a veterinary graduate of Texas A&M University. Dr. Harper has specific research and clinical background experience in equine stem cell therapy, diagnostic blocks in equine lameness, and ocular (eye) surgery. Dr. Harper completed several master's projects evaluating the effects of the digital flexor tendon sheath blocks in equine lameness models, as well as the potential benefits of stem cells in equine orthopedic cases.
